Deadly

Deadly has been a dream project of mine for many years. Back in 2016, I was driving when this song came on my Pandora station: Angelica by Lamb. Angelica just made me picture a human being left in the world where the seven deadly sins found them. From there I crafted a movement piece in 9 songs where we follow a Human as they meet each modern deadly sin and eventually find a way to forgive themselves and escape through a higher power. Fast forward to 2018, I try to find a place to stage the show and just can’t do it. 2019 comes around and I decide to do it for the Shoestring Theatre Festival, but when I go to hold auditions, two people show up (when I needed 9…). I keep trying to get the show off the ground until finally I apply to direct for Cue Zero Theatre Company and I meet a very open minded creative director who is not afraid of new works (even movement ones!). Now, I am fortunate enough to be at the point where I have my cast, space, and dates all ready to go and even some rehearsals under my belt.

The show has evolved by leaps and bounds over the last month. It went from a cast of 9 to one of 7. It went from being about one Human, to being about anyone out there struggling with what I perceive as the modern sins, the things that are not deadly because God says so, but because they harm our relationships with ourselves and others and can lead you down the road to literal death. My entire soundtrack has changed, from a pipe dream of pop hits I could never afford to license to artists on YouTube who you probably have never heard of and my amazing friend, Rob Martin, who is composing two original songs just for this show! (Rob is literally the BEST!) I am blown away by the talented people I get to work with and I am even taking the stage once again to help fill out the cast (the pandemic has been rough, and getting people to audition was quite the challenge). I am excited to post pics and video here as the show hits the stage and you can get tickets to come see it here: https://cztheatre.com/index.php/deadly/

Deadly premiers March 4th, 5th, and 6th at Granite State Arts Academy, in Salem, NH and will be available to attend in person or stream live for each performance. The show is produced by Cue Zero Theatre Company.
